NBC pilot is based on the 1989 movie

By Nellie Andreeva March 23,

Peter Krause and Maura Tierney are jumping back into primetime with starring roles on NBC’s pilot “Parenthood.”

In the project based on the 1989 movie, the “Dirty Sexy Money” star is set and the “ER” veteran is in negotiations to play versions of the characters portrayed by Steve Martin and Dianne Wiest.

TV veteran Craig T. Nelson and Dax Shepard are in negotiations and Mae Whitman is set to co-star in the pilot.

“Parenthood,” from “Friday Night Lights” creator Jason Katims, revolves around adult siblings, the Bravermans.

Krause will play Adam Braverman, a married man with two children who is a lunatic beneath the surface. Tierney will play his sister, Sarah Braverman, a single mother. Whitman, repped by APA and Crosby/Spilo, will play her rebellious 16-year-old daughter.

Shepard will play the youngest Braverman, a slacker.

Nelson will play their father, a Vietnam vet-turned-actor/hippie.

The pilot is produced by UMS and Imagine TV. Ron Howard, who directed the original movie, is exec producing with the film’s producer Brian Grazer and Katims.
